I came here on a first date and it was quite memorable. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We ordered the seafood shellfish stew, and a few other side dishes It looks like the place has since closed, but happy to have been brought here and have tried the restaurant.

Had the pleasure of being brought here to experience the last night of service before they close down and I enjoyed it. The staff is like family as I watched dozens of customers hug and kiss hello. The owner was present and greeted guests as they entered. The mood was bittersweet as this establishment has been here for many years and it shows as people wait in line to dine and say their goodbyes. Food, cocktails, and the vibe are amazing. Permanently closed down

Piperade was the excellent choice my fiancé and I made as we arrived for a weekend getaway in the Bay area. The ambiance was super classy, the bartenders were on point with their impeccable service and drinks. Piperade was super cozy, yet classy and elegant. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, as we enjoyed their Calamari a la plancha, stuffed peppers, and then moved on to the Duck Leg Confit. My fiancé ordered the lamb chops, and must I say they were exquisite. If we love being catered to and love a super classy ambiance Piperade is the restaurant of choice in San Franciso.

Superb service from the wait staff. Ambiance allows for good group events and conversations. Ordered the stuffed peppers as an appetizer and itbwas delicious. Main course for me was steak and it was good. Dessert was chocolate cake and it did not disappoint.

Wow, so impressed with this restaurant from the moment my husband and I arrived to the end. Our waitress has been with this restaurant from the beginning and I can only imagine how lovely the owner is for her to remain with them until they close which is later this year to retire which we heard from our friends who are the ones who invited us here to join them for dinner. We ordered couple appetizers and I ordered Halibut which was delicious, fresh and melted in my mouth! My husband ordered the steak and said it was delightful! I wish this restaurant wasn't closing but the owners deserve to retire and enjoy all their hard work! Please go support the business and waiters, staff before it closes!

One of my favorite places. This place is a gem when it comes to its savory dishes. We love their special appetizers: the octopus served with potatoes, peppers and a delicious sauce is a must, as well as their calamari a la plancha, and their tasty prawns basquaise! For main dish, do not miss their seafood +shellfish stew, really super tasty. Their braised pork cheeks are also to try and their burgers come with a unique bask sauce, I bet you'll make sure to dip every single fries in that! For dessert, don't miss the warm dark chocolate cake!

Summary: neighborhood favorite with lots of seating options, upscale Basque food, specialty drinks Details: Slightly off the beaten path for a touristy neighborhood but well loved by locals and those in the know. Choice of eating outside, bar, small or large table, and private room. As others have mentioned, don't be surprised if the Chef pops by to say hello. Came with a large group with appetizers served "family style" so got to sample multiple dishes. Roasted Beet Salad - nice mix of beets and mangos with a tangy dressing. Very good. Basquaise Salad - apples and pine nuts tossed with frisée. Vinaigrette dressing is apparently tossed with ham. Ok. Grilled octopus - expertly flavored with lemon and garlic. Personally would have preferred a bit of char. But I ate more than my fair share of this dish. Lamb Chops -- yum! Wasn't sure what was in the relish but menu says cumin & dates. Cooked expertly medium rare. Seafood Stew - got a taste of someone else's dish -- rich and flavorful broth. A little light on the seafood. Will try this some other time to get a proper verdict. Gazta Cheesecake - the basque version of a cheesecake with no crust and "burnt" top. Not too sweet. I ate too much. Basque cake - a golden cake with a crusty and pleasantly sandy crust, stuffed with pastry cream. Ok Extensive wine list and full bar with rotating specials. Good service without pretentious staff. Definitely give Piperade a try.

Piperade is a hidden gem in North Beach. Located away from the hustle and bustle of FiDi and Columbus Ave., this restaurant is a great spot for a cozy and intimate feel without having to sacrifice quality. The restaurant has a range of seating options - from bar seating to tables that can fit a large party, as well as a private room. You will not feel rushed when eating here, as we took our time with cocktails, appetizers, our entrees, then dessert. Some highlights were the Terrine (Warm Sheep's Milk Cheese and Ham, Aged Sherry) and the Braised Pork Cheeks. The Amerikanuak cocktail was an elevated version a Moscow Mule, and the Basquerak was extremely smooth.

Came here for a dinner party of 30 in their private room - the setting was cellar-reminiscent, wood decor, wood tables with one wall showcasing their spanish wines. Service is top notch and Chef Gerard came out to tell us about the authentic basque meal. Roasted beet salad Tart and tangy, great pairing with Cava Pacific calamari 'a la plancha', garlic, lemon confit Simply yet expertly prepared, no typical batter to navigate, just the squid... this one is a plate-licker... Stuffed piquillo peppers Such a striking difference with the first two starters, the goat cheese, raisings, pistachios and sweet pepper made for a wonderful combination. Both the calamari and peppers paired well with traditional spritzy, refreshing white called 'Txakolina' Mushroom tartlett Cornered mushrooms on triangles of phyllo dough, thyme, and a dab of creme fraiche. So crispy yet so chewy on the inside - one of the clear favorites on the menu. Cheese and ham terrine Sheep's milk cheese and curled up ham certainly a sight to behold... however, I did think it was oversalty, or there needed to be a better balance with the cheese. This dish was probably the only one that fell short. Bizkaiko - Shellfish stew in red pepper sauce Soooo warm, rich and savory. Tomato heaven. The small piece of fish I sampled was tender and fresh. Braised Pork Cheeks Plus plums, cipollini onions, fingerling potatoes and carrots. Very tender and juicy - and paired very well with flagship Clos Pissarra wine 'El Mont', a grenache from 2012. Lamb Chops - With merguez, fennel, roasted bread, pecan, cumin and date relish. This was like at Chef's backyard barbeque with the very respectable portions, you felt like you wanted to gnaw the lamb to the bone if you were alone. Very well prepared, medium rare and super juicy. Finally, we did sample four different desserts, my favorite being the Warm Dark Chocolate Cake 'Amatxi', which presented a sultry ending to a beautiful evening.
